Expertises

Dr. Lana Vanderlee’s research program examines the impact of population-level policies and interventions that influence the food environment. The food environment—defined as the set of physical, economic, sociocultural, and political factors that influence dietary practices—has a significant impact on diet quality.

At a global scale, policymakers are working to implement strategies that make the “healthy choice the easy choice” and to positively influence diets and promote health. Dr. Vanderlee’s research aims to identify ways in which public and industry stakeholders can promote healthier diets among Canadians and globally.
