Programme de mentorat
A mentoring program
to support new student members
Are you a new student at INAF or about to start your studies there? Would you like some support at the beginning of your journey to help you settle in? You can benefit from mentoring offered by our team of student mentors.
There are two ways to benefit from mentoring:
- Request a match
- Ask the mentoring team your questions
Request a pairing
The twinning program allows INAF student members to receive personalized support from a mentor. Anyone enrolled in an internship (e.g., international, postdoctoral), master’s program, or doctoral program is eligible for the mentoring program.
Objectives:
- To help you integrate into INAF and its member entities.
- To facilitate your arrival in Quebec City.
- To answer your questions and direct you to the appropriate resources.
- To enable you to build your professional and social network.
Your first contact: To be paired with a mentor, you must submit a request to mentorat@inaf.ulaval.ca. A mentor will be assigned to you shortly. Feel free to contact us even before you arrive at INAF.
Students may withdraw from the mentoring program at any time, request a change of mentor, or decline an activity proposed by their mentor.
Not interested in mentoring, but have specific questions? Feel free to contact us at mentorat@inaf.ulaval.ca. We will be happy to answer your questions or direct you to the right resources!
How can I join the mentoring team?
Want to get involved with the INAF student community? Would you like to help a new student take their first steps at INAF and in Quebec? This program is for you!
Getting involved in the mentoring program means:
Supporting a new student to help them adapt, find their place, and build a network in their new environment.
This is a volunteer commitment. A letter of recognition will be provided upon request. Don’t worry, you will receive support to help you.
Role of mentors:
The main role is to help socialize and guide students toward the right resources. To do this, you can:
Communicate with your mentee at a frequency agreed upon between you
Answer their questions about INAF, university life, and/or life in Quebec
Mentors receive support at all times and can turn to a resource person or contact mentorat@inaf.ulaval.ca. Students may withdraw from the mentoring program or request a transfer of their mentee at any time.
How to apply:
You must submit your application to the Mentoring Committee at mentorat@inaf.ulaval.ca by sending an initial email addressing the following three points:
Your motivation for becoming a mentor and the skills that enable you to fulfill this role (a few lines)
The type of mentoring for which you are offering your services (pairing, team answering specific questions, or both)
A list of the languages you speak fluently and in which you can mentor.
