Yvan Chouinard’s research interests focus on dietary and hormonal factors affecting milk quality and composition in dairy cows; modifying the lipid profile of milk through the cow’s diet; the mechanisms of conjugated linoleic acid (CLA) synthesis and secretion in dairy cows; the effects of CLA on milk production and composition; the effects of CLA on blood lipids and body composition in humans; and omega-3 fatty acids in forage and their content in milk from dairy cows.
