Expertises

The research activities of Dr. Julie Jean’s team focus primarily on food safety in general, and more specifically on food virology. Her work is centered on the development of molecular methods for the detection of foodborne pathogenic microorganisms (viruses, bacteria, and parasites). Studies are also conducted on the persistence, attachment, and transmission of viruses on surfaces and in food. In addition, her research includes the development of strategies for the inactivation and control of pathogenic microorganisms in food systems.
