Expertises

Endocannbinoids are bioactive lipids that signal through cannabinoid receptors, which are activated by the psychoactive component of marijuana: THC. Dr. Cristoforo Silvestri focuses on the impact of the endocannabinoid system and related molecules on metabolism and obesity, including the development of adipose tissue, the regulation of glucose and lipid metabolism, and the regulation of metabolic modifying hormones and adipokines.
