Associations between the presence of Health Canada’s front-of-package nutrition symbol and the degree of naturalness of ready-to-eat foods available in Quebec
Scientific poster prepared by Camille Bernard, nutrition student, under the supervision of Marie-Ève Labonté.
Consumer demand for foods perceived as more natural has increased substantially in recent years, as these products are often associated with higher nutritional quality. At the same time, since January 2026, ready-to-eat foods high in sugars, sodium, or saturated fat are required to display a front-of-package nutrition symbol, in accordance with Health Canada regulations. In this context, this study aims to characterize the degree of naturalness based on the theoretical presence or absence of Health Canada’s nutrition symbol across two categories of ready-to-eat foods available in Quebec.
