Dr. Fliss’s research interests focus on the isolation, characterization, and production of lactic acid bacteria and probiotics with antimicrobial activity, as well as the in vitro and in vivo study of their mechanisms of action; lactic acid bacteria strains with high probiotic potential; the role of probiotic bacteria in the prevention of and resistance to enteric infections, rapid detection methods for pathogenic microflora (genetic probes, PCR, RT-PCR, NASBA), bacteriocin-producing bifidobacteria, in vitro simulation of the human digestive system and bioactive peptides.
