Expertises

Dr. Valérie Orsat’s research focuses on food and bioprocessing, encompassing both fundamental and applied aspects. She uses engineering approaches to develop innovative solutions to challenges encountered in biological systems. Her work on microencapsulation for targeted delivery of functional ingredients to improve health outcomes is recognized nationally and internationally by her peers. Dr. Orsat is also involved in several international development projects funded by the International Development Research Centre. Together with her partners, she seeks to develop and implement practical solutions to food security challenges in India by promoting the consumption of millet and value-added by-products. Another key aspect of her work in Asia and Africa is the establishment of multidisciplinary platforms with a strong emphasis on private sector engagement.
