Le Dr Louis Pérusse et son équipe s’intéressent à l’identification de nouveaux gènes de susceptibilité à l’obésité. Leurs efforts portent actuellement sur l’étude des déterminants génétiques des comportements et des apports alimentaires. Ils ont démontré, par des approches de génétique quantitative, qu’il existe des facteurs génétiques communs entre les comportements alimentaires et l’obésité. Au moyen d’études d’association, ils tentent d’identifier des gènes influençant les comportements et les apports alimentaires et de vérifier leur rôle dans la susceptibilité génétique à l’obésité.
