Webinaire Pôle bioalimentaire : From idea to impact: Building an EU academia–industry consortium for sustainable food innovation

This presentation provides an insider’s perspective on the conception, design, and implementation of Sustain-a-bite (https://sustain-a-bite.eu), an EU and Swiss Confederation co-funded project focusing on advancing health and sustainability through innovative food products and processes. It highlights how a multidisciplinary consortium was built by aligning academic research goals with industrial needs and public funding priorities.
The talk will describe the timeline and practical steps involved in forming the consortium, establishing trust among partners, and securing meaningful engagement from stakeholders by applying a multi-actor approach. The presentation will also discuss how the project was structured to simultaneously address regulatory requirements, consumer expectations, and sustainability objectives, as well as the governance and knowledge-sharing mechanisms put in place to ensure impact beyond the project’s duration. By demystifying the European collaborative funding model, this talk aims to inspire Quebec researchers, policymakers, and funding agencies in the design of future integrated research programs.
