Expertises
Dr. Frédéric Calon’s expertise focuses on neurodegenerative diseases (Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s), essential tremor, and neuropharmacology in general. He and his team primarily conduct preclinical studies in animal models of brain diseases or neuropathological studies on human brain samples. He is best known for his contribution to the discovery of the neuroprotective effects of omega-3 fatty acids. The ultimate goal of Dr. Calon’s work is to accelerate the transfer of knowledge from basic neuroscience to clinical applications for brain diseases that affect millions of Canadians.
