Dr. Bégin's research focuses on the psychosocial determinants of weight. More specifically, it focuses on the identification of factors that predispose to anorexia, bulimia and binge eating and obesity, and the effectiveness of treatment programs for people with obesity or eating disorders. She also carries out work on the couple relationships in people with a weight problem.

School of Psychology

In 2005, Dr. Bégin founded a university clinic specializing in the assessment and treatment of weight problems (anorexia, bulimia, hyperphagia, body image, obesity) at Laval University. She leads, supervises doctoral trainees and professionals, and carries out clinical follow-ups with clients.
Dr. Bégin received two CIHR awards for multicenter clinical research projects focusing on persons with weight-related problems. She has worked closely with clinical partners throughout Quebec, including the Health and Social Services Centers and the University Hospital Centers.
