Laurent Dallaire Stands Out at Université Laval’s Final Three-Minute Thesis Competition


FSAA master’s student places 2nd and receives the Audience Award.

On March 30, the Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies held its finals for the competition Ma thèse en 180 secondes (“My Thesis in 180 Seconds”). Laurent Dallaire, a master’s students in food sciences under the supervision of Ismail Fliss, came in second in the master’s category and won the Audience Award. He had finished first in the Agriculture faculty’s finals. He was able to capture the attention of the audience as he summarized his research, in less than 3 minutes, on the optimization of conditions and formulation to produce anti-Listeria bacteriocins in a cost-effective manner.

Additional awards went to:

  • 1st Prize: Maud Gratuze, doctoral student in neurobiology, Faculty of Medicine;
  • 1st Prize: Alisson Clémenceau, master’s student in molecular medicine, Faculty of Medicine;
  • 2nd Prize: Damien Mathis, doctoral student in wood science. Faculty of Forestry, Geography and Geomatics.
