What is a clinical study?

At INAF we work to improve people’s health through better nutrition. With that in mind, we conduct different types of clinical studies on nutrition—research projects that advance our understanding of the links between diet and health.

These studies are done to analyze how foods, food components, or diets may contribute to the development or prevention of health problems like cardiovascular disease, obesity, gastrointestinal and immune disorders, cognitive decline, and other disorders that may or may not be associated with aging. When carried out according to a strict protocol, their results can be generalized to a large part of the population.

Our clinical investigation unit has state-of-the-art facilities and equipment that enable us to conduct all phases of a clinical nutrition research project in humans. In addition, all INAF studies are approved by Université Laval’s health-sciences research ethics committee.
